I am a Landscape Designer and the sole proprietor of Sutherland Design for more than 20+ years, and I have designed many types of landscape projects, both large and small, in the San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas. My background is in fine art and graphic design. For 13 years I worked installing and maintaining landscapes, as well as designing them. It is my pleasure to bring all of my hands-on knowledge and creative skills to each design proje ...ct. My Landscape Projects range from Mediterranean, California Natives, Drought Tolerant, Deer Resistant, Nurturing Sanctuaries and more. If you can dream it, I can design it! I have designed conceptual elements such as Fireplaces, pergolas, retaining walls, fences, decks, patios, outdoor kitchens, water features: natural, formal, and sculptural. While designing my client’s outdoor living space, after carefully listening to their needs and desires, I blend their practical needs with the aesthetic beauty. We choreograph rhythmical gardens with textural differences and complimentary colors. A well-designed garden is a food for the eyes; it can evoke a childhood memory or stimulate a more recent impression of a distant landscape once visited.
